ASTM A358 TP316L is a standard specification for electric-fusion-welded austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel pipe suitable for corrosive or high-temperature service, or both.316L is a low carbon version of Type 316 stainless steel, which is commonly used for its excellent corrosion resistance, especially in corrosive environments.
ASTM A358 specifies that the pipes covered by this standard should be produced by the electric-fusion-welding process. This welding method involves melting two or more pieces of metal using an electric arc. The molten metal is then fused together to form a continuous joint.
